Erectile dysfunction medications took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These kinds of items being sold, generally online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no about their safety.

"You simply do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the impact drugs like this might have on your health."
